This system was built to enable a school’s PE Department to record fixtures, results, and match day information for the various school sports teams. This information is presented by a webpage within the school website framework, allowing both staff and students to keep up to date with the latest sporting results and upcoming fixtures. The page provides a quick ‘go to’ area for all staff and students to celebrate achievement and promote extra-curricular activities.
As an administrator of the system you have additional icons on the page, which allow you to create new fixtures and edit or delete existing ones quickly. Forms are used to fill out fixture details such as the type of sport, date/time, venue etc. Certain details, such as score and scorers, can be left blank and completed at a later date when the fixture becomes… you guessed it, a result!
A PHP translator script allows the information to be displayed differently per sport. For example, football scorers can be displayed like so: Andy Taylor – 2 (Football Goals), and for cricket: Andy Taylor – 100 (Cricket Runs). With this script it is possible to add extra sports as requested, and display fixture information uniquely for that sport.
The system also has a Match Report feature, which provides a stage for student journalists to publish their writings on any of the active fixtures (once reviewed and accepted by an administrator).
